Introduction to Procreate®

In this hour-long presentation, Artist Andrew Nixon discusses how the software program Procreate® can enhance and re-create traditional practices of drawing, painting, printmaking, and illustration. Broadly applicable to many visual disciplines, this presentation offers new creative options in your journey from initial idea to finished work. Providing concrete examples, Nixon explores how this beautifully designed and powerful software can lead your artistic practice in new directions. An open question-and-answer period will follow. Spend a day with me in the Ambler Arboretum where you will sketch from life and learn techniques for capturing the beauty and atmosphere of the gardens. Participants will explore the big picture to the smallest detail, including written text alongside their drawings. This workshop begins with a discussion and demonstration of tools, tricks, media, and techniques. Specific exercises, free drawing time, and sharing of our work round out this full day of drawing in a beautiful setting. A materials list is displayed on the registration page. Note: registration is through Temple University. Fee is $135.
Previous workshops
Join me for one, two, or three quick drawing classes. No experience necessary. We'll begin with a brief introduction into the subject matter and sketching tools, then draw together! During class, I'll tell you what to look for, how to capture moving creatures, basic anatomy. It's quick, casual, and fun!
Join me for lunch time, high tea, happy hour, or after dinner drawing calisthenics, depending on your time zone. Bring a sketchbook, pencil or pen.
